Nancy Dadami ~ Not All Dragons Are Created Equal

Chinese astrology portrays the Dragon as a symbol of strength, power, and good fortune. However, it is essential to understand not all dragons are created equal.

Each year has an energy signature that influences the people and activities of the year.

The energy repeats every sixty years. The Chinese zodiac operates on a 60-year cycle woven with the twelve animals (Rat, Ox, Rabbit, Tiger, DragonSnake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig) and the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water).

Each element influences the animal in the year it governs. The Wood Dragon rules this year. The energy signature of this year matches the energy signature of the last Wood Dragon year, which was 1964.

We can look at the events in 1964 to discover examples of the Wood Dragons’ influence. Here are events from history in 1964.

  • The Civil Rights Act was signed, making it illegal to discriminate against someone based on race, religion, sex, national origin, or the color of their skin.
  • Race riots gripped many cities in the United States.
  • The Vietnam War was at its peak.
  • University of California at Berkeley had the “free speech movement,” with over 3000 activists participating.
